The Journey -Mathura to Gokul. PART- 7
Nature was not in harmony. They could not bear to see the Lord born in prison and soon after be separated from His parents with out even being cuddled or even held Him close to share the warmth.
Torrential rains disrupted the passage to cross the Yamuna river. The embankments swelled and overflowed, the waves rolled higher and higher and the loud thunder and flashes of lightening threatened Vasudev all the more and he felt helpless yet he gathered all the courage left to reach Gokul inspite of the spate of fury.
At a distance he spotted a huge black snake coming towards him in great haste. The snake was none other than"Anant Sesha"later who was born as Lords elder brother. Lord Balram. The snake spread its hood like an umbrella and shielded the Lord and him . The Lord was covered with a cloth.laid in the basket and Vasudev carried his son on his head.
Vasudev now realised his son was no ordinary babe. He was "Divine"
The Yamuna river's fury abated and the intensity of the torrential rains also subsided. The river gave way for Vasudev to reach Gokul.
The Lord radiated His "Divinity" even as a new born The beginning of His Leelas.
His pangs of separation from His parents ever was a "Hidden Secret. " He contained Himself and appeared as a normal babe but His sparkling eyes, refreshing smile, a composed demeanour and a beautiful face reflected His purity, on His tender face that was so much apart from all babes.
Vasudev reached his friends house. The doors of the house were wide open. It was rather unsual at that part of the night. It is believed the people of Gokul were happy and felt very secure under Nandadev's care and comfort. No thefts were reported any where or any time. People never feared any thing and so slept soundly with the doors of their houses wide open.
Vasudev entered Yashodas chamber. Both Nanda Dev and Yashoda were sound asleep not even realising a baby girl born to them. This was the "Maya" of the Lord.
The baby girl looked so beautiful and awaited to be lifted up. Vasudev left his son and lifted the babygirl and without even turning back with a heavy heart he felt a part of his Soul left behind with him. He stealthly left to reach the prison cell before break of Dawn.
The Snake follwed him back and sheltered him and the baby girl and reached Mathura on time.
Vadudev gently and slowly laid the baby beside Devaki. The baby gave a shrill cry and Devaki woke up with a start. She was happy to see her baby but soon the happiness was cut short by the feeling of yet again sacrificing the babe to her brother Kans wrath and murderous treachery. She didnt know she had give birth to a "Divine Lord" as she was unconscious when Vasudev left for Gokul with their beloved Son.
The shrill cry woke up the guards from their hypnotic sleep and they rushed to inform King Kanas that his nephew was born.
King Kanas and the people of Matura had waited for this day. Liberation to the people of Mathura. and destiny leading to death for the King at an appropriate time and place. Now they felt the prophecy indeed has come true.
King Kans no longer felt mighty or powerful. From the day he heard the prophecy he felt a strange fear over take him and he lost his sleep and appetite. Now he felt meek like a lamb.
He got ready to go and see his new born nephew.
