Celebrations At Gokul. Part-10
Gokul was a small town and Nanda Dev was the head of the Gopa tribe. Every one felt the joy of being happy and cheerful under his reign.
Vasudev left his beloved son under the care of his bosom friend and carried back the baby girl born to them as per the Oracles instructions.
It was a bright sunny day. The birds, cows, peacocks, blosming flowers rejoiced at the birth of a son to Yashoda and Nanda Dev.
The cowherds, milkmaids danced in ecstasy as soon as they heard the wonderful news and the celebration that was planned ahead. All the inhabitants of Gokul were invited and each one were greeted with warmth and they felt so "special"
Yashoda and Nanda Dev couldn't contain their immense joy. They cajoled and hugged their beloved son. They couldnt take their eyes of Him. Through the Lords Maya they never knew that He was Vasudev and Devaki's son.
Nanda Dev 's house was decorated with varied hue of flowers and its fragrance scented the air. The sound of drums were heard at a distance. The cow herds and milk maids were colourfully dressed and looked their very best for the occasion.
The babe was wrapped in a yellow silk 'Pitamber"adorned with glittering jewels. The soft mattress on the cradle was covered with red velvet.
The cradle was decked with balloons and rose petals were strewn all over the cradle.
All the milk maids hovered round to get the first glimpse of the new born.
The babe lay smiling from ear to ear.
The sparkling eyes, mischievous look, the pure innocence on the face, the blue black shining skin and the 'Divinty' simply radiated around captured every ones
heart. Every one could recognise that something was definately "Special" about Him. No one ever knew that it was "The Almighty Lord Himself lying as the new born babe in the cradle. Unknowingly all who were present were "Eternally Blessed in His pressence.
The quiet town suddenly burst into flurry of activities. The streets wore a festive look. Festoons, balloons and flowers decked the pathway to Nanda Des house. The "Diyas "were lit all over the house and it was like celebrating "The Festival of Lights"
Nanda Dev amidst his guests named his beloved son "Krishna"meaning "All Attractive"
The Cows in the barn mooed aloud expressing their joy. and the Lord too acknowledged with a smile as they were to become His best companions and He their "favourite "cow herd.
The people of Gokul had a wonderful time as long as the fetivity lasted. They enoyed a hearty meal every day and received lots of gifts and sweet meats to carry back home.
Nand a Dev and Yashoda thanked every one to have made it a memorable and nostalgic experience for them.
The cow herds and the milkmaids were unable to express what they felt as tears of joy rolled down their cheeks and they had never ever witnessed such a grand occasion for a long time.
Thus began the Lords life here at His foster parents home.
The people of Gokul were not aware what was in store for them. The Lord's Leelas.
